Training Timer
An iPhone sports training app
iOS Application
Introduction
Personal presets, presets shared with team mates, and built-in presets are accessible from the three tabs of the app's main screen.
Personal timer presets can be created, saved, and shared.
Built-in presets for different sports.
Timer presets are created from so-called 'timer blocks' which can last fixed or random intervals and make a variety of sounds (or even count, if desired).
After tapping start, the app steps through the timer blocks in the preset. In this example, a runner is running 100m and wants to know if they finish in under 12 seconds.
After tapping start, the runner puts the phone down next to the track (ideally connected to a speaker) and has 20 seonds to get into their starting blocks. After the 20 second preparation time has elapsed, the start tone will be played after a random span of time so as to force the runner to react to the start tone by preventing them from anticipating the start time. 12 seconds after the start tone is played, the phone speaks the number '12' aloud so that the runner knows whether or not they passed the finish line in 12 seconds or less. (The timer could now speak the number '12' aloud again after another 12 seconds in the event that the runner wanted to know whether or not they kept their goal pace to 200m.)
